Single-item shipping covers everything from a piano to a Victorian bookcase to a shipping container of vintage motorcycle parts. The shipment is one-piece, individually crated and inventoried, with customs paperwork specific to that single item rather than as part of a household removal.
Custom crating is standard practice for fragile or high-value pieces. Art and gallery pieces travel in art-grade crates with double-walled construction and climate-monitored interior; pianos in dedicated cradles with specialist-piano-mover handling; instruments (including the awkward ones — harps, double basses, vintage organs) in form-fitting custom crates. The customs treatment depends on the item and on you: a piece you have owned and used for at least six months can travel under the transfer-of-residence franchise if you are moving house, whereas a sale, a gift or a loan is declared as an ordinary import.
Single-item shipping is also the right answer for some inheritance situations, gallery and museum loans (we can handle these where the institutional paperwork is in place), and specialist machinery moves (workshop equipment, wine-making equipment, agricultural specialist tools).
